Aicent 4G Roaming Service
The Connectivity Paradox - The world becomes more fragmented as it becomes more connected.
Wireless broadband experienced explosive growth globally in 2008 and shows every sign of continued accelerating growth in 2009 and 2010. New 4G technologies, renewed growth in existing 3G and unlicensed technologies, more available spectrum and a consumer requirement for mobility are combining for an unprecedented requirement for mobile data. As a result of this consumer-driven need entrepreneurs and existing mobile operators alike are rapidly deploying solutions to meet demand. New technologies such as WiMAX, existing technologies like WiFi along with EVDO and HSPA are helping to provide a large global yet incompatible wireless footprint. Consumers are justifiably confused with this new fragmentation of the wireless world and will demand simplicity. Since each global market is different and no one-size-fits-all solution is available each operator makes decisions about which technology is the best fit for a specific market. The paradox of a fully connected yet fragmented, multi-technology world is with us.
Aicent believes in a seamless, fully connected world where consumers can take their mobile broadband and content with them wherever they go and is focused in making this vision a reality. Aicent's traditional expertise in IP, GSM, CDMA and WiFi data roaming provides an excellent foundation to address new wireless technologies and to provide new connection capabilities between wireless technologies creating a seamless mobile fabric for consumers.
Today Aicent provides global data roaming solutions and services for GSM, CDMA, 4G and WiFi network operators. These services include RIM/Blackberry connectivity, GSM data roaming, CDMA data roaming, WiFi roaming, 4G data roaming and prepaid data roaming via CAMEL. Aicent also operates the world's largest MMS exchange as well as a SMS exchange. These services represent in excess of 10,000 operator paths and connections through Aicent's carrier-grade infrastructure. To ensure quality of service Aicent has built and operates a global private managed IP network. Aicent believes the experience of operating this network is critical for the successful deployment of next generation data roaming and services.
WiMAX has emerged as a key technology to support true 4G connectivity both for fixed wireless and mobile. Available spectrum in countries has been allocated to WiMAX and literally hundreds of new wireless operators are delivering services along side traditional wireless operators. Already devices supporting multiple radios for multimode WiMAX, WiMAX+WiFi, WiMAX+EVDO and WiMAX+HSPA are appearing in the market. Aicent is working with many of these CDMA, GSM, WiFi and WiMAX operators to bring global roaming and interstandard roaming to commercial reality.
Aicent is a leader in solving the connectivity paradox
Aicent is actively participating in the standards bodies and working with operators to commercialize roaming solutions across multiple wireless technologies. Aicent has roaming services in GSM, CDMA, WiFi and WiMAX and is ideally positioned to be a key contributor in connecting these wireless technologies and help solve the Connectivity Paradox.
